How to Use the Calculation Tool?

In Lato, the calculation tool helps you quickly compute prices, costs, and markups for your itineraries so you can build accurate travel proposals with confidence. Whether you’re adding service fees, calculating margins, or adjusting costs for clients, this guide explains where to find the tool, how to enter values, and how to interpret results — making budgeting and pricing easier and more consistent.

Accessing the Calculation Tool

  1. Open a trip

  2. Navigate to the “Calculation” tab

  3. The tool will automatically load all your trip elements

Setting Up Your Pricing

Before using the calculation tool, you’ll want to configure your default margins and fees:

  1. Go to your Brand settings in the main settings

  2. Navigate to “Pricing settings

  3. Set your default margins and fees for each category (Accommodations, Transports, Activities, Other)

  4. Don’t forget to click “Save

You can override default margins and fees for specific trips:

  1. Open your trip in the trip editor

  2. Navigate to the “Calculation” tab

  3. Update your margins and fees

  4. These changes only apply to that specific trip

  5. Don’t forget to click “Save

Adding Custom Items

To add items not automatically detected:

  1. Click the ”+” button next to any category in the Calculation tool

  2. Fill in the item details

  3. Set the price and any specific margins or fees

  4. The item will be included in your total calculations

  5. Accidentally added an item? Click the ”-” sign that appears on the right when you hover over it

Managing Different Currencies

If your trip involves multiple currencies:

  1. Use the currency settings on the top left in the Calculation tool header

  2. Use the current market rate filled in by Lato or adjust it manually according to your own needs

  3. A new column appears in the calculation tool table

  4. You can enter either a Purchase Currency price or a Sales Currency price

  5. If you enter a Purchase Currency price, it is automatically converted to the Sales Currency price and shown in that column
